Commissioning Engineer- Electrical
Our client is a leading organisation in the energy infrastructure sector with a strong presence across multiple states. They are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support HV substation, transmission line, and traction substation projects. Experience across large-scale renewables or solar farms will be highly regarded.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with solid commissioning experience who is looking to deepen their technical capability across major infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake HV testing and commissioning of primary equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary equipment
- Perform secondary injection relay testing across transmission, distribution, and generation environments
- Support testing of SCADA and communication systems
- Assist in integrating new protection and control schemes into existing networks
- Review designs and validate protection schemes using approved drawings and documentation
- Develop commissioning plans, sequencing, and site readiness documentation
- Contribute to commissioning strategies that support safe, cost-effective project delivery
- Collaborate with project engineers, site teams, and contractors to ensure smooth commissioning activities
- Maintain commissioning records, reports, and compliance documentation
Key Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Approx. 3-6 years’ experience in commissioning or testing of HV primary and secondary equipment
- Hands-on experience with protection testing, primary equipment commissioning, and HV substation environments
- Understanding of risk, safety, and compliance requirements within electrical infrastructure projects
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and protection documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and within a team
- Willingness to travel interstate for project work
