A leading defence consultancy is seeking a highly experienced Senior Commercial Support (Level 3) professional to join their team at Sydney Central. This role supports complex defence projects and is critical to the success of commercial operations and contract management.

About the Role

You will work closely with the Commercial Director and broader commercial team to manage procurement activities, oversee contract performance, and support submissions. The role requires strong stakeholder management, a deep understanding of the defence environment, and excellent commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Support & Planning

  • Lead and support commercial activities across the capability lifecycle, including procurement, tendering, and contract management.

  • Provide expert advice on procurement policy, commercial strategy, and legal/technical issues.

  • Prepare high-quality procurement documentation and manage stakeholder collaboration.

  • Mentor junior commercial staff and contribute to their development.

  • Support planning documentation such as Smart Buyer docs, endorsements, IP analysis, and risk assessments.

Contract Management

  • Manage end-to-end contract lifecycle including payments, deliverables, and compliance.

  • Provide guidance on contractor relationships and stakeholder engagement.

  • Draft and review contractor correspondence, reports, and deliverables.

  • Support contract amendments, dispute resolution, and cost/term reviews.

Market Engagement & Tendering

  • Develop commercial sections of procurement documentation including conditions of tender and contract.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to align commercial and technical elements.

  • Support industry briefings and manage tender evaluation processes.

  • Evaluate commercial components of tender submissions and prepare necessary reports.

Negotiation & Establishment

  • Lead commercial negotiations and develop negotiation strategies.

  • Ensure proper approvals, contract execution, and compliance with reporting requirements.

  • Support tender debriefings and ensure contracts reflect agreed terms.

  • NV1 clearance and a solid understanding of CASG policies
