Cloud Engineer – Government Cloud Platform (AWS/Azure)

6-month contract | Federal Government | Multiple locations | Baseline clearance

We are partnering with a large Federal Government agency to engage an experienced Cloud Engineer to help design, build and operate its enterprise cloud platform.

This role sits within the agency’s Cloud & Digital Platforms team and will focus on building secure, scalable and compliant cloud infrastructure across AWS and whole-of-government cloud services.

You will work alongside a Lead Cloud Engineer to support the agency’s Cloud Roadmap, modernise its cloud estate and enable secure adoption across business systems.

What you’ll do

  • Design and operate enterprise cloud environments across AWS, Azure and government cloud platforms

  • Build and maintain secure landing zones, networking, IAM and cloud guardrails

  • Implement government security controls aligned to ISM and PSPF

  • Optimise cloud environments for cost, performance and reliability

  • Support cloud adoption across multiple teams and vendors

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and stakeholders

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in cloud infrastructure/cloud platform engineering

  • Hands-on expertise with AWS and/or Azure in complex enterprise or government environments

  • Solid background in cloud networking, identity and security

  • Experience working with multi-account cloud environments, automation and IaC

  • Comfortable working in regulated environments and under government security frameworks

  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Clearance

  • Australian Citizen with ability to obtain Baseline clearance
