Our agency is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join a dynamic development team comprised of technical specialists across multiple domains. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, engineering, and delivering high-quality cloud solutions that meet stringent standards for performance, security, reliability, and digital accessibility. Experience in AWS cloud platforms, solution design, automation, and analytics is essential.

About the Role

The Cloud Engineer will work across complex, large-scale cloud environments to build and enhance cloud-native solutions. You will collaborate closely with architects, developers, data engineers, product owners, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure, scalable, and optimised cloud services. The role also requires proactive upskilling of internal staff to build cloud capability across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build AWS cloud solutions, including infrastructure, frameworks, and deployment models.

  • Apply domain expertise and innovative approaches to solution design.

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into high-level architecture and technical solutions.

  • Build scalable machine learning, integration, and data engineering solutions.

  • Stay informed of emerging cloud technologies and apply relevant advancements to Data Engineering, ML and AI workloads.

  • Conduct knowledge transfer and upskilling with internal engineering teams.

  • Optimise cloud solutions for performance, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.

  • Develop automation frameworks and support DevOps and GitOps practices.

  • Ensure cloud solutions follow best-practice security, governance, and compliance standards.

  • Support monitoring, reliability, and health-check approaches for enterprise cloud applications.

Mandatory Skills & Experience (5+ years)

  • Proven ability to design and build AWS cloud solutions, including service upgrades.

  • Proficiency with IaC tools: Terraform, AWS CDK.

  • Experience working with Containers and Kubernetes.

  • Strong background in Cloud Security and governance.

  • Proficient in DevOps CICD pipelines, version control (Git), GitOps frameworks.

  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.

  • Automation design and implementation skills.

  • Experience with Apache Spark.

  • Strong SQL skills.

  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB.

  • Familiarity with Parquet, Delta Lake, Iceberg formats.

  • Software development experience with Java (Maven), Scala, and Python.

  • Hands-on experience building pipelines for ingestion, data movement, curation, structured outputs, and container creation.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Cloud data warehousing, data modelling, and database management.

  • Understanding of AI and ML applications.

  • ETL/ELT processes and pipeline orchestration.

  • Understanding of data science principles.

  • Experience in agile Scrum environments.

  • Automated testing.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to proactively identify technical or customer issues and recommend solutions.

  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity principles.

  • Experience monitoring enterprise-scale cloud solutions.

  • Background working in large organisations and large cloud deployments.

  • Ability to design fault-tolerant, scalable, cost-optimised cloud architectures.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work independently and adapt to evolving priorities.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Commitment to teaching, coaching, and upskilling team members.

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Data Science, or equivalent.

  • Data engineering experience or foundational knowledge of MLOps.

  • Commitment to best practice, continuous improvement, and adopting modern methodologies.

  • Openness to learning new tools and technologies.

  • Ability to work effectively within a project environment and follow the Scrum framework.

Security Requirements

  • Baseline Security Clearance is mandatory for this role.

  • Candidates with an existing clearance are strongly preferred; however, exceptional candidates able to obtain clearance may be considered.
