Our Client

Our Federal Government client is Australia’s principle revenue collection agency, primarily responsible for administering the federal taxation system and superannuation legislation, as well as managing and delivering a range of Australian government payment and loan schemes.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to play a key role in the design and evolution of a large-scale enterprise API platform supporting mission-critical digital services. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex cloud transformation initiatives, driving secure, scalable and modern API architecture solutions across a highly visible government environment.

Your duties will include:

  • Designing target-state API gateway and cloud platform architecture
  • Defining API request flows including authentication, authorisation, routing and policy enforcement
  • Developing AWS infrastructure patterns using CloudFormation and/or AWS CDK
  • Creating reusable API onboarding, deployment and governance patterns
  • Collaborating with development teams to transition and modernise existing APIs
  • Contributing to CI/CD pipeline design, observability and operational standards

Skills and Experience

  • Strong AWS cloud architecture experience, particularly with AWS API Gateway
  • Experience designing enterprise-scale API platforms and integration solutions
  • Hands-on background in REST API development and middleware engineering
  • Strong knowledge of CloudFormation, AWS CDK and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Experience with AWS services including Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, DynamoDB and CloudWatch
  • Understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API security and CI/CD delivery models
