This is an opportunity to join a niche, high-performing Applied HVAC team that services large-scale industrial and commercial chillers across Victoria and Tasmania. About the Role
As a Service Technician – Applied (Chillers), you’ll be responsible for routine maintenance, commissioning, diagnostics, breakdown service, and technical repairs on industrial/commercial chiller systems. You’ll work across a wide range of sites, including hospitals, airports, data centres, manufacturing facilities and other large commercial environments.
This role suits a technician who can work independently, communicate clearly with customers, and take ownership of service quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance, commissioning, testing, and repairs on large commercial/industrial chillers
- Diagnose faults, analyse performance issues, and implement effective solutions
- Perform site surveys, replacements, modifications, and preventative maintenance
- Prepare for onsite work by assessing layouts, identifying risks, and organising tools/materials
- Complete service reports, timesheets, and paperwork to a high standard
- Liaise with Service Coordinators and customers to manage daily schedules and provide technical support
- Explain service charges and work performed to customers in a clear, professional manner
- Supervise apprentices where required
- Maintain technical currency and uphold all safety, WHS, and quality requirements
What You’ll Bring
Must-Have
- Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Trade qualification
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience working specifically on chillers
- Strong troubleshooting ability and experience working independently
- Valid driver’s licence
- Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills
- Ability to plan your workload and set priorities effectively
Highly Regarded
- OEM background
- Experience in both chillers and controls
- Experience working on large-tonnage industrial equipment
- Exposure to complex commercial/industrial sites (hospitals, data centres, etc.)

Salary & Conditions
- $40-$60 per hour + super (rate dependent on chiller experience)
- 38-hour week + 2 hours paid weekly overtime
- Additional overtime, weekend work, and after-hours roster paid accordingly
- Full-time permanent role
