The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is embarking on a significant enterprise transformation, with technology playing a critical role in enabling future ways of working, improving organisational capability and supporting long-term strategic outcomes.

As Chief Digital Technology Officer, you will partner with the Executive Leadership Team and senior stakeholders to lead ACER’s enterprise transformation program. With a significant transformation roadmap ahead, you will be establishing the delivery capability, maintaining program momentum, achieving key milestones and implementing the technology capabilities that will support ACER’s future operations.

This is an executive leadership role focused on turning strategy into delivery-leading a complex transformation program, establishing strong delivery governance and ensuring investment delivers meaningful organisational outcomes.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief People & Transformation Officer, you will lead the delivery of ACER’s enterprise technology transformation program.

Your immediate priority will be leading the successful delivery of a complex portfolio of technology initiatives that modernise ACER’s enterprise technology environment and enable broader organisational transformation. While there will be opportunities over time to contribute to technology and digital strategy, the initial focus is on program execution, governance and delivering measurable business outcomes.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading ACER’s enterprise technology transformation program, ensuring key milestones, timelines and benefits are achieved.
  • Overseeing a significant portfolio of enterprise technology initiatives, ensuring successful implementation across the organisation.
  • Establishing strong program governance, delivery disciplines and benefits realisation across the transformation portfolio.
  • Leading the modernisation of ACER’s core platforms, applications and integration capabilities, supported by contemporary enterprise architecture and solution design principles.
  • Leading organisational change across people, process and technology to support successful implementation and adoption.
  • Partnering closely with the Chief People & Transformation Officer to ensure technology delivery aligns with business priorities.
  • Working collaboratively with the Chief Information Officer to successfully transition new capabilities into business-as-usual operations.
  • Ensuring technology investment delivers measurable business outcomes and long-term organisational capability.
  • Leading internal teams and strategic delivery partners to achieve successful program outcomes.

Success in this role will be measured by your ability to successfully deliver the transformation program, realise measurable business benefits and establish the technology capabilities that support ACER’s long-term strategic objectives.

About You

We’re looking for an accomplished technology executive with a proven track record of delivering large-scale enterprise transformation programs.

You will bring:

  • Executive leadership experience delivering complex technology and digital transformation initiatives.
  • A proven track record leading large-scale enterprise transformation programs, with experience shaping enterprise architecture and solution design to support complex technology environments.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing governance, delivery frameworks and benefits realisation across complex programs.
  • Experience governing large technology investment portfolios and complex vendor environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence Executive teams and Boards.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to work across technology, transformation and business functions.
  • Experience building high-performing delivery teams and embedding disciplined program governance.

Most importantly, you’ll know how to translate strategy into execution and deliver transformation outcomes that enable lasting organisational change.
