Capture Manager
This role leads the full capture lifecycle for complex Defence opportunities. You will shape early positioning, develop win strategies and oversee compliant proposal development in alignment with Defence requirements. The position sits within a growth-focused function and works across technical, commercial and delivery teams to drive successful outcomes.

About the Role
You will take ownership of Defence capture activities from early opportunity qualification through to submission and post-bid review. The role requires strong stakeholder alignment across business development, engineering, operations and commercial functions, with a focus on developing clear, competitive and executable solutions.
You will also play a role in improving internal capture capability and ensuring consistency across bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end capture lifecycle across Defence opportunities
- Develop capture plans including customer insights, competitor analysis and win themes
- Shape opportunities pre-release through early engagement and positioning
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs across technical, commercial and delivery teams
- Oversee proposal development aligned to evaluation criteria and compliance requirements
- Manage structured review processes (e.g. Blue, Pink, Red reviews)
- Ensure alignment with governance, risk and commercial frameworks
- Contribute to continuous improvement of capture processes and tools
Skills and Experience
- Experience in capture, bid or proposal management within Defence or complex environments
- Strong understanding of structured capture methodologies (e.g. Shipley)
- Ability to develop win strategies and customer-focused messaging
- Experience working across technical, commercial and delivery stakeholders
- Strong written communication and proposal development capability
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits and tight submission timelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- APMP or similar certification (desirable)
Eligibility / Other Requirements
- Australian Citizenship required
- NV1 security clearance minimum (NV2 highly regarded)
