
Business Analyst - Modelling & Projections (data)
Our client is a federal government organisation with offices throughout Australia. Due to growth, they are seeking several Business Analysts – Modelling & Projections in data (APS5 and APS 6) to join their team in Richmond or Geelong.
- 12-month initial contract plus extensions
- Hybrid with 2-3 days per week onsite
- Federal government role – Australian citizenship required
- APS5 = $55.24 + superannuation per hour
- APS6 = $60.26 + superannuation per hour
Key duties and responsibilities
- Understanding, extracting and presenting data using reporting products such as Microsoft Excel and SAS libraries and data.
- Creating, refining and maintaining projection modelling tools in excel and other software.
- Generate forecasting reports, visualisations and insights using excel based projection modelling for operational and strategic use.
- Drafting communication pieces and presenting business insights and recommendations
- Contributing to branch reporting to monitor and track improvement outcomes
- Undertaking quality assurance processes, including quality checks with reports, quality trend analysis and outcomes analysis
- Using data to identify risks to performance and proposing mitigation measures
- Providing support to the Business Analyst in liaising with, managing relationships and educating key agency stakeholders to build knowledge on reporting products and data literacy
- Identifying best practice approaches through qualitative and quantitative review
- Manage workflow requests through JIRA triage queries

Key skills required for role/s:
- Understand, extract and present data using reporting products such as Microsoft Excel, Salesforce and SAS libraries and data, to coordinate branch reporting and data projections and modelling.
- Driving the creation, refinement, connection and maintenance of projection modelling tools in excel and other software.
- Generate forecasting reports, visualisations and insights using excel based projection modelling for operational and strategic use.
- Interpreting trends and performance results in the context of business operations and strategies
- Forecasting & statistical modelling knowledge and skills.
Desirable skills to have for the role/s:
- Knowledge of Salesforce analytical tools, including ability to prepare and present business intelligence reports utilising the analytical tools
- Drafting communication pieces and presenting business insights and recommendations
- Providing leadership and mentoring to upskill and support
- Liaising with, managing relationships and educating key agency stakeholders to build knowledge on reporting products and data literacy
