Senior Business Analyst – Federal Government

Talent is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a major technology initiative within a Federal Government agency.

This role will suit a confident and self-sufficient Business Analyst who can work across business and technology teams, bring clarity to complex requirements and support delivery from discovery through to implementation.

Key responsibilities

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews and stakeholder discussions to identify business needs, requirements and intended outcomes.
  • Elicit, analyse and document business, functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop business requirements documents, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Produce current-state and future-state process maps using BPMN.
  • Work collaboratively with business SMEs, executives, designers, developers and testers.
  • Apply user-centred design principles and Australian Government accessibility and usability standards.
  • Support testing, requirements traceability and defect clarification.
  • Assist with UAT preparation, system implementation and the creation of user guidance and training materials.
  • Manage competing priorities and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Guide and support junior Business Analysts when required.
  • Contribute positively to a professional, accountable and collaborative team culture.

About you

You will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of systems development lifecycles and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience eliciting, documenting and managing complex requirements.
  • Strong process-modelling, data-analysis and data-modelling capability.
  • Practical experience with BPMN and requirements-management tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience applying user-centred design practices to improve services and user experiences.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and delivery skills.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with technical, business and executive stakeholders.
  • Previous experience within Federal Government or a similarly complex and regulated environment will be highly regarded.
