Business Analyst – Energy Trading Projects

Are you an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in complex system implementations and a passion for solving challenging business problems? This is an exciting opportunity to work on strategic trading initiatives, new product development, and customer-focused improvements that support renewable energy and large-scale enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities

As a Business Analyst, you will:

  • Gather, define, and document business and functional requirements through stakeholder workshops, interviews, and data analysis.

  • Understand complex trading and market requirements transforming them into clear, actionable user stories, functional specs, and test cases.
  • Translate requirements into detailed process flows, wireframes, and user stories, ensuring clarity for technical and business stakeholders.

  • Support the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, including scoping, testing, UAT coordination, and post-implementation validation.

  • Collaborate closely with trading, ICT, and vendor teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Contribute to backlog grooming and sprint planning using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.

  • Use SQL and other tools to extract and analyse data for validation and reporting purposes.

  • Maintain a forward-looking view of business needs and provide input on process improvement opportunities.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst in complex project environments, ideally within trading, finance, or energy sectors.

  • Knowledge of energy markets or trading platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Agile delivery methodologies, sprints, and backlog management.

  • Proficiency with business process modelling (e.g. BPMN), writing acceptance criteria, and producing high-quality documentation.

  • Ability to facilitate workshops, present ideas clearly, and manage a wide range of stakeholders across business and IT teams.

  • Strong skills in tools such as SQL, Confluence, Jira/Azure DevOps, Excel, and Visio.

  • Experience coordinating and executing testing activities, including UAT support and test result documentation.
