About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on AWS Data Engineer with strong Terraform experience to join a high-performing data engineering team based in Sydney. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing and building scalable, cloud-native data platforms and working across complex data pipelines in an enterprise environment.

You’ll play a key role in data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, analytics, and distribution helping deliver robust, well-governed data products on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS services
  • Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform/Terragrunt
  • Implement best-practice data modelling for data warehousing environments
  • Build real-time and batch data solutions using streaming and orchestration tools
  • Collaborate with platform, product, and analytics teams to deliver data products
  • Apply DevSecOps practices to automate and improve data workflows

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience as a Pure AWS Data Engineer
  • Deep knowledge of AWS services across ingestion, storage, orchestration, analytics, and distribution
  • Solid understanding of data modelling and data management best practices
  • Experience with real-time streaming using Kafka and AWS services
  • Proven experience with:
    • Airflow
    • AWS Glue
    • Apache Iceberg
    • Athena
    • Redshift
    • AWS DataZone
  • Strong programming skills in Python and Spark
  • Infrastructure-as-code expertise using Terraform/Terragrunt
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a platform or product operating model
  • Understanding of data mesh and data product concepts with federated ownership
  • Background in the Capital Markets domain, including knowledge of derivative products
