AWS Data Architect / Data Warehouse Lead
Location: Sydney or Newcastle, NSW

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Architect / Data Warehouse Lead to manage, support, and improve enterprise-scale data platforms across AWS and Azure environments. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, governance, and performance of Microsoft Fabric and cloud-based data warehouse solutions in production.

You will work closely with Data Engineering, BI, and Platform teams to maintain high availability, security, and compliance while driving continuous improvement across our data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain Microsoft Fabric environments (DSP & IA) in production.
  • Ensure strong operational hygiene across Production and Non-Production environments, including Azure and AWS Jump Boxes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Fabric pipelines, dataflows, and workspace configurations.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and BI teams on incident resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Implement and manage data governance frameworks using Microsoft Purview.
  • Track and report on SLA compliance, operational metrics, and support ticket resolution.
  • Perform capacity planning and improve Fabric and cloud workloads.
  • Validate security, compliance, and access controls across all platforms.
  • Support change management processes for system deployments and upgrades.
  • Maintain documentation and operational best practices.

Skills & Experience Required

  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data warehousing, or cloud data platforms.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric architecture and operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory.
  • Solid understanding of AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Experience managing production systems in enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security frameworks.
  • Proven experience in incident management and problem resolution.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, change management, and release processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud data platforms.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Purview and data cataloguing solutions.
  • Exposure to DevOps and automation tools.
  • Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments.
