Automation Test Analyst

Talent International is searching for an experienced Automation Test Analyst (QA Engineer) to join our client, a global leader in the manufacturing and supply of construction and mining equipment. This role is based in the Brisbane CBD on a 6-month contract, with likely extensions and the possibility to go permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the quality assurance subject matter expert (SME) within the Consite Mine Plus PoV team.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers, data engineers and scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to define and maintain quality standards.
  • Design and implement test strategies, test plans, and test cases for new and existing features.
  • Conduct appropriate quality assurance tests to ensure the quality of the features delivered to the end-users meet expectations.
  • Drive automation initiatives to support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure quality is considered throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of defects and work closely with engineering teams to resolve issues.
  • Promote a quality-first mindset and lead the adoption of QA best practices across the team.
  • Monitor, track, and report on software quality metrics.

Key Deliverables

  • Comprehensive test plans and test cases covering functional, integration, regression, and performance scenarios, and their execution.
  • Automated test scripts and frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Defect reports and quality dashboards with clear, actionable insights.
  • Documented quality standards and testing guidelines for the Consite Mine Plus platform.
  • Sign-off reports for releases indicating readiness and QA validation status for CAB approval purposes.
  • Continuous improvements to QA processes and tooling based on retrospectives and feedback.
  • Risk assessments and mitigation plans related to product quality.

Experience and knowledge

  • Hands-on experience in quality assurance for data platforms, analytics applications, or enterprise software across both functional as well as non-functional scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes across the SDLC.
  • Experience designing and executing test strategies for both frontend and backend components of analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with testing analytics dashboards and visualizations (e.g., Grafana), ensuring data accuracy and usability.
  • Exposure to end-to-end testing application components hosted in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
  • Competence in writing clear, reusable test cases and documenting test results in tools like Azure DevOps, Atlassian JIRA, etc.
  • Understanding of automated testing principles and experience contributing to automation frameworks or pipelines.
  • Experience in carrying out load and performance tests to validate platform performance.
  • Ability to identify data quality issues and collaborate with developers and data engineers to resolve them.
  • Experience working in Agile teams with active participation in sprint and QA planning and reviews.
  • Prior experience in working with Grafana ecosystem of tools (e.g. Grafana, K6 testing tool, and Snowflake is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of data validation techniques as well as experience in validating data consistency, transformation logic, and end-to-end data workflows would also be a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex data flows and identify discrepancies or edge cases.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering defect-free, production-quality solutions.
  • Ability to write clear, comprehensive, and reproducible test cases and test plans.
  • Proficiency in test case management and issue tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Atlassian JIRA).
  • Good understanding of SQL for validating data accuracy and integrity across large datasets.
  • Comfortable interpreting and testing dashboards and visualizations to ensure they reflect correct business logic.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman, JMeter, etc for validating backend services.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product owners, and business analysts.
  • Strong communication skills for articulating bugs, quality risks, and status clearly to technical and non- technical stakeholders.
  • Initiative-driven mindset with the ability to proactively identify quality improvements and process enhancements.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities, requirements, and timelines in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Good understanding of test automation principles and the ability to contribute to or maintain existing automation scripts.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification
