The role of the Internal Audit | Arotake ā-roto team is to provide independent, meaningful, and insightful assurance services to the organisation. As a partner across the organisation the Internal Audit team adds real value, going beyond compliance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and work proactively to help manage risk.
In the Audit Intelligence team, your data analysis work will touch on many aspects of what the NZDF is about – from camps and bases, overseas posts and governance systems, through to finance, travel and HR systems.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
Reporting to the Manager Audit Intelligence, you will work collaboratively to provide data-led audits and analytics. You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality insights that are highly valued by senior stakeholders.
In this role you will get to:
- leverage data to solve interesting and unique problems that lead to tangible improvements
- access and use large datasets to create high-quality data analysis that supports the delivery of audits that are entirely data driven
- provide data analysis expertise and support to fraud investigations when required
- use your love of data and inquisitive mind to generate insights that help the organisation to better understand its data, augment decision making, and drive new initiatives
- contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of data analysis tools and techniques for the team
- work with the military and civilian personnel and teams that make up the NZDF.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience
The right person for this role will offer:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a data analytics, modelling or data intelligence role
- Exceptional technical capability paired with an inquiring, analytical mind
- Attention to detail so sharp it could cut through a corrupted CSV
- A habit of validating data so thoroughly errors don’t survive the process
- Ability to turn technical information and complex data into clear, insightful reports and visualisations
- Practical experience with data tools such as SQL, Access, Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot and VBA
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence and willingness to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
Experience within an audit environment, or an understanding of audit is preferred, but not essential.
We are undertaking a transformation to modernise our analytical environment. Therefore, experience with data interrogation and visualisation tools such as Power BI, R, Python, and ACL/Arbutus is desirable.
