Talent International is currently recruiting Assistant Procurement Officer to work for the NSW Government, based in Burwood (Hybrid). This is a contract until the 30th of Dec, with the possibility of extension, paying between $40 and $50/day plus Super.

8 hours per day/ 40 hours per week (excluding break, no overtime will be paid – less than 6 hours will be half day)

About the role

As an Assistant Procurement Officer, you will support operational sourcing activities by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, conducting sourcing activities and providing procurement advice to internal stakeholders.

Working closely with Finance, Procurement Services, the Solution Centre and Centre of Excellence teams, you will help deliver a high standard of customer service, contribute to process improvements and support efficient procurement outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Conduct sourcing and request-for-quotation activities using procurement systems.
  • Provide general procurement advice and support to internal stakeholders.
  • Work with external suppliers and a broad range of internal business areas.
  • Assist in resolving customer enquiries, system issues and procurement-related concerns.
  • Support customers to understand and adopt procurement systems and processes.
  • Maintain a high-volume workload while delivering accurate, responsive service.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute positively to an agile team environment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience across procure-to-pay processes.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, positive and flexible approach to changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail, integrity and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience with ARIBA and/or SAP is preferred, but not essential.
  • Previous NSW Government or broader government experience is desirable.

Experience in supply chain, inventory, materials planning or warehousing is not required for this position.
