Talent International is currently recruiting for an Archives Administrator to work for the Local Government, based in Bankstown. This position is a contract role for a 3-month contract with a view to be extended, and the role pays $51.95 per hour + Super.

About the Role

As the Archives Administrator, you will facilitate and manage the lifecycle of Council records from active use through to archival storage or disposal. You will provide specialist advice on records and archival management, ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and support the organisation in maintaining best-practice records management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Council archives and records in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements
  • Provide specialist advice and support on records and archival management practices
  • Assist with information retrieval for GIPA requests
  • Ensure compliance with the State Records Act (NSW) and AS ISO 15489 Records Management standards
  • Appraise, sentence, store and dispose of records using approved retention and disposal authorities
  • Conduct audits and maintain accurate archival records
  • Monitor offsite storage providers and service delivery performance
  • Coordinate transfers of records between storage locations
  • Assist with developing and updating policies, procedures and best-practice guidelines
  • Educate staff on records management responsibilities and compliance requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across records and archives functions

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience working in a Records and Archive Management environment
  • Strong knowledge of records and archival management principles and practices
  • Sound understanding of the State Records Act (NSW) and AS ISO 15489
  • Experience applying General Retention and Disposal Authorities, ideally GA39 and GA45
  • Strong analytical, investigative and research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence

Desirable

  • Qualifications in Records, Archives, Information Management or a related discipline
  • Previous Local Government experience
  • Experience using SharePoint, RecordPoint or similar records management systems
