Talent International is currently recruiting for an APS6 Training Facilitation Officer x 3 to work for one of our Federal Government clients based in Surry Hills/Parramatta/Newcastle/Chatswood/Penrith, or any other client location. The position is a 12-month contract role with the possibility of extension and pays $60.26/hr + Super.

7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week

This role involves indirect or direct involvement with First Nations peoples. The candidate should have an understanding of the issues affecting First Nations peoples and proven culturally appropriate engagement and communication skills.

Position Overview

The Training Facilitation Officer plays a leadership role in delivering culturally safe and engaging training programs that build workforce capability and support improved outcomes for First Nations people with disability. This position works closely with internal teams, First Nations stakeholders, and external providers to facilitate learning experiences that reflect cultural knowledge, lived experience, and adult learning principles. The successful candidate will contribute to strategic goals and ensure accessibility is achieved in all deliveries.

The role supports the implementation of training packages, contributes to continuous improvement through feedback and evaluation, and plays a key role in promoting respectful, culturally safe learning trauma-informed environments across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and learning events that are culturally safe and aligned with adult learning principles.
  • Deliver a range of learning experiences including face-to-face, virtual, and blended formats.
  • Support the implementation of training packages developed by the design team, ensuring fidelity to content and cultural safety standards.
  • Collaborate with First Nations stakeholders to co-facilitate training that reflects lived experience and community perspectives.
  • Gather and analyse participant feedback to inform improvements in training delivery.
  • Promote psychological safety and wellbeing through respectful and trauma-aware facilitation practices.
  • Provide support and coaching to other facilitators and staff involved in training delivery.
  • Work with HR, L&D, and operational teams to ensure training aligns with workforce needs and strategic priorities.
  • Represent the team in relevant forums and working groups, supporting cultural safety and workforce development initiatives.
  • Contribute to reporting on training delivery outcomes and lessons learned.

Key Skills Required for the Role

  • Training Facilitation Expertise Demonstrated experience in delivering training sessions across various formats (face-to-face, virtual, blended).
  • Cultural Safety and First Nations Knowledge Strong understanding of cultural safety principles and ability to embed First Nations perspectives into training delivery.
  • Adult Learning Principles Ability to apply adult learning methodologies to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Trauma-Informed Facilitation Commitment to respectful, psychologically safe, and trauma-aware facilitation practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Ability to collaborate with First Nations stakeholders and co-facilitate training that reflects lived experience.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Feedback and Evaluation Experience gathering and analysing participant feedback to inform continuous improvement.
  • Team Collaboration and Coaching Ability to support and coach other facilitators and contribute to a positive team culture.

Desirable Skills to Have for the Role

  • Qualifications in Education, HR, or Related Fields Relevant tertiary qualifications that support training facilitation and workforce development.
  • Experience Working with First Nations Communities Practical experience engaging with First Nations communities or organisations.
  • Digital Facilitation Skills Comfort with virtual platforms and tools used for online training delivery.
  • Strategic Alignment Ability to align training delivery with broader workforce capability and organisational goals.
  • Reporting and Governance Experience contributing to reporting on training outcomes and lessons learned.
