The agency is strengthening its digital communications capability and is seeking an experienced communications professional to help deliver engaging content that supports public awareness, stakeholder engagement and organisational priorities.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced APS6 Social Media & Communications Officer to develop and deliver engaging digital communications across a range of online channels.
Working under limited direction, you’ll create high-quality social media and digital content, coordinate communication campaigns, monitor audience engagement and provide practical communications advice to internal stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional who enjoys combining creativity with strategic thinking in a fast-paced government environment.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement social media content plans aligned with organisational priorities.

Create, edit and publish engaging social media, website and digital communications.

Adapt messaging for different audiences while meeting Australian Government accessibility and style requirements.

Support the planning and delivery of digital campaigns and public communication activities.

Monitor social media activity, community sentiment and emerging issues.

Analyse campaign performance and provide recommendations to improve engagement.

Build strong working relationships with policy, regulatory and corporate stakeholders.

Prepare communication briefs, talking points and other communication products.

Support communication governance, moderation, approvals and recordkeeping.

Liaise with designers, web publishers and content specialists to deliver communication products.
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for candidates with:

Experience delivering social media, digital content or communications in government or another complex organisation.

Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences.

Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital engagement and government communication requirements.

Experience using analytics and reporting tools to evaluate campaign performance.

Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under limited direction.
Qualifications
Highly regarded:
-
Qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, digital communications or a related discipline; or
-
At least five years’ relevant communications experience.
