About the Client
Our client is a central government agency that plays a central role in shaping Australia’s economic policy and supporting the Government’s fiscal strategy.
An opportunity is available within Treasury’s Internal Budget Team for an experienced Management Accountant to provide financial management advice, support internal budget processes and partner with business areas to deliver high-quality financial outcomes.
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced APS6 Management Accountant to deliver management accounting and finance business partnering services in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Working closely with business areas and senior executives, you’ll contribute to the internal budget process, financial reporting, forecasting and analysis while providing trusted financial advice that supports informed decision-making across the department. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys stakeholder engagement, data analysis and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the agency’s internal budget process, including stakeholder meetings, executive briefings and financial analysis.
- Develop and maintain accurate budgets and forecasts for business areas.
- Deliver end-of-month management reporting, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Provide financial management advice to executives and business stakeholders.
- Build strong working relationships across the department to support budgeting and workforce planning activities.
- Prepare financial analysis and reporting using Excel and TechnologyOne.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial management processes and reporting.
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for candidates with:
- Experience in government financial management and public sector financial frameworks.
- Strong management accounting or finance business partnering experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including budgeting, costing, reporting and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
Highly regarded:
- Experience using TechnologyOne.
- CA, CPA or equivalent qualification (or progress towards certification).
Security & Eligibility
- Baseline Security Clearance (minimum requirement).
- Australian citizenship is required on application.
