APS6 Business Analyst Team Leader

Talent International is currently recruiting for an APS6 Business Analyst Team Leader to work for one of our Federal Government clients based in Newcastle. The position is a 8-month contract role with the possibility of extension. The role pays $60.26 per hour + Super.

7.6 hours per day and 38 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of technical analysts, driving performance and capability development
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of operational reporting, projections, and scenario-based analysis
  • Ensure outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with business and executive needs
  • Manage competing priorities, interdependencies, and tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Provide technical leadership across data analysis, validation, governance, and reporting standards
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders by presenting complex insights clearly and effectively
  • Identify and manage risks, data quality issues, and delivery impacts
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Collaborate across business units to ensure alignment on assumptions, inputs, and delivery timelines

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in a leadership role managing technical or analytical teams
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
  • Advanced data capability including validation, assurance, and interpretation
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with SAS/SQL (writing and troubleshooting)
  • Experience delivering regular reporting products end-to-end
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, validating, and assuring projection/scenario-based reporting
  • Strong time management skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Skills

  • Project management experience
  • Forecasting and modelling expertise
  • Previous Federal/State Government experience
