Talent International is currently recruiting for an APS5 Procurement Officer to work for one of our Federal Government clients based in Parramatta. The position is 12-month contract role with the possibility of extension. The role is paying $55.24/hr + Super.

7.6 hours per day and 38 hours per week

We work within the procurement branch of the agency and our team function is to partner with business areas of the client to support them to manage their labour hire resourcing needs.

The APS5, Procurement Workforce, Officer role is really a blend between Procurement and Recruitment. We really have a procurement basis underlining everything that we do. We have to work within the Agency’s procurement policy and make sure we’re following the Commonwealth procurement rules. But that said, it really is a blended role.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing procurement advice to client’s business areas as a procurement business partner, establishing appropriate procurement methodologies, preparing a range of procurement documentation, reporting, evaluating tenders and negotiating contracts.
  • Providing high-level administrative and procurement support, and managing confidential and sensitive information.
  • Delivering support and advice in relation to compliance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and Guidelines, client’s Procurement Policy and procedures, and ensuring value for money based outcomes.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements and contributing to the continuous development of procurement processes.
  • Providing internal and external stakeholders with quality and timely advice.
  • Monitoring and progressing work area activities and achieving work area objectives.

Key skills required for role:

  • Federal, State or Local Government experience.
  • Understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high volume requests and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to remain composed in a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • We are looking for people that have strong stakeholder management skill set and who can work within policies and procedures and who can follow a process, are very organised and can independently manage a workload.
  • Someone who can remain calm and compose when they are managing quite a busy workload. You could be planning to do something in the morning, then you get 5 offers come through that need to be sent out straight away so somebody who can adapt be up for a challenge.
  • Have that independence in being able to manage what is quite a a busy role, whilst maintaining that stakeholder management focus as well.

Desirable skills to have for the role:

  • Procurement experience or Cert IV in Procurement
  • Stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills
  • Professional document writing experience
  • Previous experience using finance business systems.
