About the Client
Our client is an executive agency in the Attorney-General’s portfolio. They manage the application of bankruptcy and personal property securities laws through the delivery of high-quality personal insolvency and trustee, regulation and enforcement, and personal property securities services.

The Regulatory Operations Group is responsible for operations in Regulatory Services and Education, Surveillance and Enforcement. This work operationalises AFSA’s strategy, delivering integrated end to end regulatory services that support clients through AFSA systems and ensures compliance in line with AFSA’s approach to regulation to: People centric, Outcomes focused, Harms based, Intelligence led, and Strengths based.

The Compliance & Strategic Implementation is responsible for supporting the delivery of initiatives under the Strategic Delivery Framework with a forward-looking, growth perspective across all of ROG.

The Compliance team will undertake compliance activities through the Official Receiver Notices statutory function.
The Strategic Implementation team will develop and oversee strategic initiatives and projects to support AFSA’s regulatory approach.

Key Responsibilities
APS6 Senior Advisor
Lead and build a high performing team by:

  • Actively support Executive and Senior Executive managers in the delivery of strategic
  • objectives and identify relevant emerging issues, trends and impacts on the business.
  • Apply extensive knowledge and evidence-based decisions supported by regulatory and
  • policy frameworks ensuring operational compliance.
  • Identify and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, process improvement and change agendas aligned to broader government and organisational goals.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance across strategic and policy related outcomes.
  • Negotiate and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the agency’s reputation.
  • Engage with operational and strategic projects and contribute to alignment of long-term planning with agency goals.
  • Coordinate and manage a team to enable high performance and service delivery excellence in accordance with corporate governance, legislative requirements, industry standards, and policies.
  • Apply effective corporate governance and management assurance practices ensuring compliance with applicable Commonwealth and AFSA financial and legislative delegations, policies and practices.

APS5 Advisor
Under guidance of the Assistant Director or Team Leader

  • Identify and contribute to the development and implementation of best practice, process improvement and change agendas aligned to broader government and organisational goals
  • Provide in depth technical expertise and guidance across strategic and policy related
  • outcomes.
  • Apply extensive knowledge and evidence-based decisions supported by regulatory and
  • policy frameworks ensuring operational compliance.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the agency’s reputation.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders in enquiries of a more complex or technical nature and identify matters for escalation.
  • Provide assistance to key customer groups to achieve outcomes within legislative and policy guidance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of written work instructions, standard
  • operating procedures, guides, training, and quality assurance.
  • Apply effective corporate governance and management assurance practices ensuring
  • compliance with applicable Commonwealth and AFSA financial and legislative delegations, policies and practices.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in public policy, project management, social sciences, or relevant discipline from an Australian tertiary institution (or comparable overseas institution), or demonstrated equivalent experience gained within Government, Insolvency or Finance regulatory bodies are highly desirable.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • To be eligible for employment in this role, you must be able to provide evidence of Australian citizen, be able to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check, and hold a Baseline security clearance.
