We are seeking an experienced Application Support Analyst to provide Level 2 production support across high-volume, business-critical trading and post-trade systems operating in both on-premise and AWS environments.

This role is focused on application support within a modern microservices architecture, ensuring system stability, rapid incident resolution and continuous operational improvement. The successful candidate will have strong SQL troubleshooting capability, hands-on AWS experience, and a solid grounding in ITIL-based incident management within financial services or similarly high-availability environments.

Responsibilities

Production & Application Support

  • Provide structured Level 2 support across trading, execution, clearing and settlement platforms.

  • Investigate and resolve incidents related to performance degradation, data integrity, configuration issues and system behaviour.

  • Conduct detailed root cause analysis (RCA) and contribute to preventative remediation plans.

  • Support microservices-based applications running in Docker environments.

Cloud & Platform Support

  • Support applications hosted in AWS, including EC2 and RDS environments.

  • Monitor system health using CloudWatch, Grafana and Splunk, analysing logs, metrics and trends to proactively identify issues.

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure/SRE teams on escalations involving underlying platform components.

Database & SQL Troubleshooting

  • Perform advanced SQL investigation and troubleshooting across PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server.

  • Analyse query performance, validate transactions and resolve production data issues.

  • Review execution plans, indexing and database performance to support application stability.

Incident & Operational Management

  • Manage incidents, problems and change activities in line with ITIL-based frameworks.

  • Maintain accurate incident timelines, stakeholder communications and post-incident documentation.

  • Contribute to CAB processes and support after-hours releases as required.

Continuous Improvement & Observability

  • Enhance dashboards, alerting and monitoring frameworks using Grafana, CloudWatch and Splunk.

  • Develop and maintain runbooks, knowledge articles and troubleshooting guides.

  • Support ongoing AWS migration and operational maturity initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong experience supporting AWS environments (EC2, RDS, CloudWatch).

  • Solid hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server.

  • Advanced SQL troubleshooting and performance tuning capability.

  • Experience supporting microservices architecture.

  • Working knowledge of Docker.

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, CloudWatch and Splunk.

  • Strong understanding of ITIL-based incident, problem and change management.

  • Experience working in high-availability, production-critical environments.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.

  • Exposure to financial markets or trading systems.

  • Experience with FIX or market data protocols.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

On-Call Participation

Participation in a rotating on-call roster (approximately one week per month), including overnight and occasional weekend coverage during approved change windows.
