IT Application Developer – AWS & Data Migration

Location: Wollongong
Contract Duration: 12-month contract
Security Clearance: Baseline preferred (or ability to obtain)

Role Overview

The IT Application Developer will work within a large, established technology team delivering application enhancements and business-as-usual (BAU) support for critical business systems. The role focuses on web application development, AWS cloud services, API development, and data migration, working closely with project and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Support

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications in line with agreed architecture and standards

  • Deliver enhancements and support BAU activities across multiple applications

  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable

Cloud & Data

  • Develop and support solutions using AWS services, including Lambda, Aurora, DMS, and SCT

  • Participate in data migration activities, including schema conversion and data validation

  • Work with MongoDB and relational databases

Integration & APIs

  • Design and build RESTful APIs and integration services

  • Ensure high performance, reliability, and security of integrations

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts, architects, and developers

  • Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and delivery activities

  • Provide technical input into solution design and implementation approaches

Documentation & Quality

  • Create and maintain technical documentation

  • Follow coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes

  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing

Leadership & Guidance

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members where required

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the team

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 5+ years’ experience in application or software development

  • Strong web development experience

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • AWS Lambda

    • AWS DMS (Data Migration Services)

    • AWS SCT (Schema Conversion Tool)

    • AWS Aurora

    • API development

    • MongoDB

  • Proven experience delivering data migration projects

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in large, complex enterprise or government environments

  • Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies

Security Requirements

A Baseline Security Clearance is preferred. Candidates without clearance must be eligible and willing to obtain one.
