AI Business Analyst
- Initial contract through to 30 June 2026, with 12-month extension
- Hybrid working: 2-3 days in-office per week, subject to agreement with the Hiring Manager
- Security Clearance: Baseline clearance preferred
- Key Skills: AI/ML business analysis, Microsoft Stack (Copilot, LLMs, Azure DevOps), responsible AI practices, agile delivery
As AI continues to reshape how government agencies operate, this role sits at the heart of that transformation ensuring AI-enabled products are built responsibly, transparently, and with the right human oversight in place. You’ll bridge the gap between complex data science capabilities and real business needs, turning ambiguous problems into clear, testable outcomes that teams can actually deliver.
Your duties will include:
- Eliciting, analysing and documenting business, data and AI requirements, breaking these down into epics, features and user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria
- Mapping business processes and decision points to determine where AI is appropriate versus rules-based logic, and defining where human oversight and approval checkpoints are required
- Collaborating with data scientists, engineers and product owners to translate business outcomes into model objectives, data requirements and feature constraints
- Designing evaluation frameworks for AI features, including test datasets, performance baselines, fairness monitoring and drift detection over time
- Developing acceptance criteria and test cases for AI/ML features, including shadow testing, A/B trials and rollback planning
- Documenting model assumptions, prompt patterns, guardrails and safety constraints, and contributing to privacy and risk assessments across the AI lifecycle
- Facilitating workshops and backlog refinement sessions, and supporting change management, communications and training for AI-enabled tools and processes
Skills and Experience we are looking for:
- Solid experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in digital or service delivery environments, with demonstrated experience working in agile teams
- Hands-on experience supporting AI-enabled products within the Microsoft Stack: Azure ML, NLP/Large Language Models (LLMs), Microsoft Copilot or intelligent automation – from discovery through to delivery
- Proven ability to write testable user stories and acceptance criteria for AI features, including evaluation metrics and guardrails
- Solid working knowledge of responsible AI principles, including privacy by design, human-in-the-loop controls, explainability and bias mitigation
- Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps and Miro (or equivalent collaboration and delivery tools)
- Experience contributing to governance, privacy or risk processes in a regulated or government environment is highly regarded
