
Adabas Database Administrator
Talent International, a leading Australian recruitment firm, have been engaged by our long-standing client, a major government services organisation. We are seeking an experienced Adabas Database Administrator to join their team on a long-term program of work.
Role Title: Adabas Database Administrator
Location + WFH Flexibility: Sydney CBD Location – Working from home 3-4 days per week.
Salary : Up to $190,000
Role Details:
- Maintain, monitor, and optimise Adabas database environments across multiple government clients.
- Perform regular maintenance activities including backups, restores, upgrades, and patching of Adabas, Natural, Software AG, and related products.
- Plan and deliver product upgrades, installs, and vendor-supported maintenance.
- Conduct performance tuning and ensure database stability and recoverability.
- Collaborate closely with Mainframe Systems Programmers to resolve operational or performance issues.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotational basis and document all completed tasks.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience as an Adabas Database Administrator.
- Proven expertise in product upgrades, installs, and database tuning across the Adabas suite.
- Strong understanding of Adabas database structures, utilities, and monitoring tools.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning, backup, and restore procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal mentoring and deliver outcomes in a lean team environment.
- (Bonus) Broader mainframe experience and/or 20+ years’ database administration experience will be considered at a Technical Lead level.
