Technical Lead / Network Architect

The Client & Role:

We’re currently working with a well-established utilities client who are currently looking for a Technical Lead / Network Architect to join their organisation on an initial 6 month contract.

You will be working across 3 main projects based around Network Resilience, SDWAN and upgrading from 3G to 4G services.

Responsibilities:

Review technical designs and solutions;

• With vendor SMEs and project engineers to ensure they are aligned to defined technical requirements and the internal technology roadmap.
• For the Network infrastructure changes to advise clarifications or updates required to ensure they comply with Network Architecture objectives.
• Contribute to discussions during workshops with vendors regarding internal Network change solutions and designs to ensure fit for purpose outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance and advise expertise during implementation planning to ensure implementations are completed with minimal risk and impact to operations.

Change Management;

• Review change management documentation to ensure integrity of change steps, technical aspects and testing methodology.
• Attending change management forums for Network infrastructure changes
• Provide guidance and SME oversight if required to assist with change approval (TCAB/CAB)
• Provide technical oversight during change execution to ensure change steps and testing are performed as planned. Provide SME guidance in conjunction with Project Manager in the event of plan deviation or rollback, to ensure minimal impact to internal Operations.
• Provide impacts and testing requirements of changes with stakeholders to ensure approvals and assistance needed.
• Participate in Network infrastructure change planning sessions to advise on appropriate procedures
• Assist the Project Manager in project planning/execution discussions with key stakeholders and service owners – cover technical aspects of the project.

Required Skills & Specialisms:

• Experience in Fortinet SDWAN.
• Technologies including firewalls, load balancers, switches and routers preferably from Cisco and Citrix Netscaler.
• Strong stakeholder and vendor relationship skills.
• Experience delivering technical design and solution requirement reviews.
• Industry experience, utilities and government agencies (advantageous though not essential).
