About the Role
The Senior Safety Change Specialist/Systems Safety Engineer is responsible for developing safety arguments, designing the safety program, leading safety activities (with a focus on applying suitable hazard identification and risk analysis methods), authoring safety case reports, and owning development and execution of the safety program for several high-profile projects. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Provide safety leadership, ensuring compliance with Safety Management System and managing operational safety risks
- Develop and maintain safety artefacts according to the approved Safety Plan
- Coordinate safety activities, including hazard identification and risk assessment
- Identify resource needs for ongoing support to the safety program
- Communicate with stakeholders and lead Working Groups, Reviews, and Workshops
- Assess human factors risks and contribute to a high-performance, collaborative team culture
- Foster effective relationships within the team and with internal/external stakeholders
- Assist in building organizational capacity through education on the Safety Management System
Requirements
- Experience as a System Safety Engineer or Safety Change Specialist within a safety regulated industry (e.g. Aviation, Rail, Oil and Gas, Defence)
- Demonstrated experience applying industry best practice system safety analysis techniques/methodologies (e.g. ARP 4761, MIL-STD 882E, IEC-61508, Eurocontrol (SAM))
- Expertise in system safety engineering including executing core system safety analysis techniques such as PHA, FHA, FTA, HAZOP, FMECA, etc.
- Tertiary qualifications in Safety, Engineering, Computer Science or a relevant field
- Experience developing safety arguments/safety cases for large scale, complex projects within a safety regulated industry
- Understanding of human factors application in evaluating change is highly desirable

- Permanent position starting ASAP (our client can wait for the right candidate to give notice to their current employer)
- Can be located in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or Canberra
- Paying up to $127K + 14% super (approx $144K package)
- Must have full, unrestricted Australian working rights and be eligible for security clearance to be considered
