Senior AI Cloud Engineer | Generative AI | Data Engineering | AWS | MLOps

  • Location: ACT/ QLD (Hybrid)
  • Security Clearance: Baseline Cleared (Preferred)
  • Contract Length: 12 months contract + 2 × 12-month extensions

Our client is seeking a Senior AI Cloud Engineer to join a high-performing technical delivery team responsible for building secure, scalable, enterprise-grade AI solutions. Working across a diverse group of specialists, you will design and deliver critical Generative AI capabilities, modern data engineering pipelines, and cloud-native architectures. This role requires deep hands-on expertise across AI/ML engineering, cloud platforms, and agentic AI frameworks, with a strong focus on responsible AI, performance, and digital accessibility.

Key responsibilities of the position:

  • Design and build Generative AI and standard AI solutions using modern concepts, tooling, and methodologies.
  • Integrate strong data engineering principles into AI solution design, including feature engineering and big-data processing.
  • Apply domain expertise and innovative thinking to architect end-to-end AI systems.
  • Translate complex technical requirements into clear, scalable solutions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Engineer scalable, secure, cost-optimised AI architectures aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Stay across advancements in cloud computing, AI, ML, and data engineering to uplift engineering practices.
  • Provide expert advisory on strategic solution design, platform direction, and tool selection.
  • Partner with multiple technical and business teams, validating and challenging proposals to ensure high-quality outcomes.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong expertise in delivering AI/ML/Data Engineering solutions at scale with strong emphasis on cloud security, governance, and fault tolerance.
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end AI solution architecture and modern data engineering in cloud environments.
  • Advanced ML expertise, including full lifecycle MLOps deployment from development through to production monitoring.
  • Strong data engineering capability: preprocessing, feature engineering, big-data tooling, ETL/ELT, and orchestration of pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of LLMs and SLMs, fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks, observability, monitoring, and model optimisation.
  • Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar open AI frameworks.

Desirable skills & expertise:

  • Exposure to large-scale government or enterprise digital transformation programs.
  • Experience mediating cross-team disagreements and driving consensus on technical direction.
  • Ability to pivot rapidly to shifting priorities while maintaining delivery focus.
