Rates Officer

Are you a dedicated professional with a passion for customer service and a keen eye for detail? Join our clients team as a Rates Officer for a short-term contract. As a Rates Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our community and ensuring the smooth operation of our rating systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service in accordance with established legislative guidelines and best practices.
  • Utilize computerized systems and software packages, including MS Office and Electronic Document Management Systems, to manage rating-related tasks efficiently.
  • Contribute to the accurate processing of journals and account reconciliations, demonstrating a general understanding of accounting principles.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain and enhance our local government rating services.
  • Effectively handle inquiries and resolve conflicts, showcasing exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
  • Adhere to work practices, procedures, and policies related to rating systems, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience within a customer service environment, including knowledge of customer service principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with legislative guidelines and the ability to work within established processes.
  • Proficiency in computerized systems and software packages, including MS Office and Electronic Document Management Systems.
  • Experience in delivering rating services within local government or a similar public sector environment (desirable).
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current National Police Certificate.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • General understanding of accounting principles, particularly in relation to account reconciliations and processing of journals.
  • Familiarity with established work practices and procedures relevant to rating systems (desirable).
  • Knowledge and application of policies, regulations, and statutory requirements related to Local Government and rating systems (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, including advanced telephone etiquette.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution abilities in a customer service context.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
