Lead Site Reliability Engineer - Azure
A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer with deep operational and Azure cloud experience to join their team on an initial twelve-month contract.
Joining a high-performing cloud and platform operations group, you will be responsible for driving operational readiness, service stability, and major incident leadership across a large and complex Azure environment. You will oversee the transition of cloud applications into full operational support, ensuring services are production ready, validated, resilient and compliant, while leading a team of 6-8 engineers focused on monitoring, alerting and reliability.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Leading operational readiness and transition-to-operations for Azure cloud services
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of SRE/Cloud engineers
- Acting as the primary escalation point for L3 major incidents, troubleshooting and recovery
- Managing monitoring, alerting and platform tooling to maintain service availability
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Strong SRE or operational engineering background with leadership experience
- Proven experience leading teams and running large-scale Azure cloud services in large, complex environments
- Proven capability in major incident management and improving service reliability
- Strong understanding of SLA/SLO frameworks, DR testing and operational governance
- Ability to work through complex technical issues and guide teams to solutions
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
This is a Sydney-based role which will require you to be in the office at least two days per week.
