Position Overview: Reporting to the Heavy Industry Principal Embedded Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing control systems for their Vehicle, system integration test benches, and digital twin test benches. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, procurement, and build teams to design and implement system-level hardware requirements and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop control systems for their vehicles and test benches.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement hardware requirements.
  • Select components, integrate parts, and create BOMs compliant with rail standards (EN50155).
  • Work with suppliers to procure parts and develop new embedded controls hardware.
  • Develop and execute test plans (DVP&R) for control systems, including EMC and environmental testing.
  • Develop end-of-line testers and test boxes for system validation in development and production.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role (Project Engineers, Design Release Engineers) in industrial applications (Automotive, Mining, Marine, Rail, Road Transport, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of hardware architecture design in distributed control systems.
  • Familiarity with electronics standards (EN50155, GMW3172) and component selection.
  • Ability to comprehend component datasheets, I/O lists, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience working with suppliers to procure parts and develop new hardware.
  • Understanding of electrical circuit protection mechanisms (circuit breakers/relays) is advantageous.
  • Embedded software development experience with C/C++ or Python is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of environmental and EMC/EMI validation is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
