
EL2 Director Targeted Research and Strategic Evaluation
The opportunity
Our client is a large federal government agency responsible for implementing Australia’s largest social reform since Medicare. They have a great opportunity for an EL2 Director Targeted Research and Strategic Evaluation to join the Research and Evaluation Branch, and lead a team to support a range of strategic research initiatives.
- Initial 12 month contract with ongoing extensions highly likely
- Richmond location with 3 days in office and 2 from home
- EL2 level with a daily rate of $775 plus super
The Role
As the EL2 Director Targeted Research and Strategic Evaluation, you will oversee research teams across a range of large, complex long-term research and evaluation projects and programs within disability. This will include team management, setting strategic direction, engaging with key stakeholders, producing reports, and overseeing delivery. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Managing a multidisciplinary team delivering robust mixed methods research and evaluations, including those involving inferential statistical analyses
- Developing and managing program logic models, theory of change and evaluation frameworks
- Leading new ways for using existing and new data for measuring outcomes for the NDIS and its participants
- Developing and managing key strategic relationships with a broad range of stakeholders designing and delivering evaluation projects
- Overseeing and preparing a range of high-quality written evaluation findings including business cases, Parliamentary, Ministerial, Senate Estimates briefs and Agency documentation
- Developing, leading, and promoting a culture of evaluative thinking across the NDIA and building capacity of other business units to undertake evaluations of their business activities
- Collaborate with the Research and Evaluation Branch leadership team, delivering the Research and Evaluation Strategy
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Extensive professional history in research leadership within public or allied health, disability services, clinical psychology and/or social sciences, ideally from a consulting/NGO/government background post-academia
- A strong understanding of academic and professional research, including various qualitative and quantitative methods, and evaluation
- Strong research project management skills, people leadership capabilities, and stakeholder engagement skills and experience including at executive level, and with external stakeholders
- Strong technical skills within research, including qualitative, quantitative, data presentation and communication
- Qualifications in disability, allied health, public health or related discipline (PhD or post grad qualifications preferred)
