Opportunity

Talent International are currently sourcing for a 6-month labour Hire contract for an Assistant Director of Finance with a Federal Government Agency, paying a daily rate of $602.55 + Super, with options to extend beyond, based in either Richmond or Geelong.

The position is an important team leadership position within the Agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. It will provide the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership and assigned Contractors working within the Work Area.

The EL1 Assistant Director Finance will coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the Agency’s objectives.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Leading components of the Financial Reporting team and functions, including month end inputs, reporting, analysis, risks, and controls, including the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Driving, maintaining, and improving the month-end cycle across the finance team. Ensuring an efficient, timely and accurate processing of month-end, with a continuous improvement culture.
  • Coordinating monthly General Ledger close and reporting procedures relevant to the Agency and the Scheme and maintaining the centralised General Ledger Journal posting register.
  • Leading preparation of notes and schedules for the Agency’s financial statements and liaising with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) regarding audit matters.
  • Management of key stakeholders including internal and external auditors, business partners and other stakeholders.
  • End-to-end management and reporting of the Agency’s fixed assets register, coordinating accounting processes with Corporate Shared Services and Agency resources.
  • Overseeing compliance and financial assessment of the Agency’s property lease contracts negotiated by the Agency, and coordination of all financial accounting entries into the lease accounting register.
  • Developing and presenting a range of financial and business written materials, including correspondence, briefs, and reports.

Key Skills required for this role

  • CPA or CA certification
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets in complex environments
  • Experience in developing reports & dashboards for presenting to Senior Management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in financial reporting or working with financial information.
  • Ability to interpret and transform data.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in complex problem solving and issues management
  • Experience leading projects

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in working with SAP financial systems.
  • Experience in a Federal Government finance environment.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
