We are excited to be working with a major Queensland Government frontline department seeking a Devops Engineer.

Scope of Position

Our client is seeking multiple suitably experienced DevOps Engineers to contribute to the successful delivery of a high priority ICT project.

This technical upgrade project will contribute to on-going operational policing and community safety through the provision of consolidated systems and infrastructure, including transition to cloud services, as well as upgrades of cellular carriage and network services to support new capabilities and an increase in device fleet for the Mobile Capability Centre.

The Frontline and Digital Division delivers consistently high-quality ICT support, innovation and services to the division. The MCC is an industry leader in mobility within the public safety sector.

The DevOps Engineers will be part of this upgrade project team with a Project Manager. The project is based in the organization’s contemporary mobility center, co-located and working closely with members of the MCC team.

Key accountabilities & skills

All projects follow an approved project methodology and report to the Cyber Security Program Manager and governance board.

The DevOps Engineers will have proven tooling, testing and technical skills. They will have strong cross-team collaboration and communication skills. The DevOps Engineers will have the know how to apply these sets of skills together to support software delivery objectives of MCC.

DevOps Engineers would have:

  • CI/CD practices
  • System Administration – monitoring, service capacities, operational states, backups, patching, upgrading
  • Test Automation
  • Application Performance Monitoring eg Dynatrace or equivalent
  • Basic scripting with multiple languages eg Powershell, Bash, Python, Perl, TCL etc
  • .Net programming languages, eg .Net, C#
  • Leading and managing teams
  • DevOps principles
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Strong knowledge in all phases of the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile Software Development practices
  • Kubernetes
  • Tertiary qualifications in ICT and/or relevant industry certifications
