Our client is a large federal government agency. They are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join their team for an initial 6-month period. This role is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex work across the Cyber Security functions. The role reports to the Assistant Director, CSOC Capability Development under the leadership of the Director Cyber Security Operations.

The successful candidate will work in a small team to develop and deliver capabilities for use by the Security Operations Centre (SOC). The capabilities include process engineering, uplift tasks, and collaboration on large enterprise scale cyber security solutions. The Cyber Security Engineer will also work closely with the SOC and other ICT teams to deliver capabilities.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated enterprise experience in either of the following – Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), Vulnerability Management or Cyber Security Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise scale SIEM engineering.
  • Curating reports, producing, and maintaining technical and project documentation to stakeholders.
  • Identifying, planning, and implementing enhancements to the Agency’s defensible cyber security capabilities.
  • Familiarity with cyber threat modelling techniques, and experience developing systems specific use cases, monitoring plans and cyber security incident response plans.
  • Experience with cloud security tooling and cloud platforms (SOAR, Endpoint Security, AWS, Azure, O365)
  • Work autonomously with limited direction and identify and drive work through to completion.
  • Communicate with influence to ensure deliverables are aligned to Corporate Plan and organisation goals.

  • Australian citizenship and be able to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance (candidate with existing security experience will be prioritised)
    Demonstrated enterprise experience in either Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), Vulnerability Management or Cyber Security Engineering.

This role will be based in the clients Geelong office 3 days each week, with flexible arrangements in place for the remaining 2 days.
