Our Client
Our Federal Government client is Australia’s principle revenue collection agency, primarily responsible for administering the federal taxation system and superannuation legislation, as well as managing and delivering a range of Australian government payment and loan schemes.
The Role
Join a high-performing cloud and data team delivering mission-critical solutions at scale. As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll design and build modern AWS platforms, data and machine learning pipelines, and automated solutions that directly enable analytics, AI and digital services across a large, complex environment.
Your duties will include:
- Designing and building secure, scalable AWS cloud solutions aligned to business goals
- Translating customer needs and business outcomes into high-level and detailed cloud solution designs
- Developing data, integration and machine learning solutions and pipelines (ingestion, movement, curation, orchestration)
- Implementing infrastructure-as-code, automation and DevOps practices to improve reliability and delivery speed
- Optimising cloud solutions for performance, resilience, monitoring, security and cost efficiency
- Actively participating in upskilling and knowledge transfer activities to build internal capability across the team
Skills and Experience we are looking for:
- 5+ years’ experience designing and building AWS cloud solutions using IaC (Terraform/CDK), containers and Kubernetes
- Strong background in DevOps/GitOps, CI/CD, automation, and cloud security, including monitoring of enterprise-grade solutions
- Solid experience with data engineering technologies: Spark, SQL/NoSQL (e.g. DynamoDB), Parquet/Delta Lake/Iceberg and related tooling
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java (Maven), Scala or Python, with experience building data and ML pipelines
- Experience working in large organisations and large cloud deployments, ideally within Agile/Scrum environments, with strong problem-solving skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification in IT/Computer Science/Data Science (or similar); exposure to AI/ML, MLOps, ETL/ELT and automated testing is highly regarded
