  • Initial contract until Nov 2024 with the possibility of extensions up to 12 months
  • Labour hire position in Canberra, ACT; other locations maybe considered.

About the Role:
Our client is seeking experienced APS6/EL1 Project Officers to join the Workforce Data Intelligence Unit.

This role will be part of a dynamic team responsible for generating data-driven intelligence to support evidence-based reform of Australia’s health workforce. The team is dedicated to fostering a thriving data-driven culture to ensure the optimal utilization of workforce data.

Key Responsibilities:
EL1 Project Officer

  • Lead the successful delivery of projects, programs, and contracts in accordance with relevant departmental policies and directives.
  • Lead procurement processes in line with Commonwealth Procurement guidelines and relevant departmental policies.
  • Implement and monitor project plans, deliverables, and project status reports.
  • Establish, implement, monitor, and review contract performance and risk management strategies.
  • Produce complex project papers, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of reports and proposals and formulate recommendations.
  • Build effective relationships and achieve negotiation outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan for and facilitate meetings, often dealing with complex technical content, with project stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to project team members.

APS6 Project Officer

  • Assist in the management of projects, programs, and contracts in accordance with relevant departmental policies and directives.
  • Coordinate and manage procurement processes in line with Commonwealth Procurement guidelines and relevant departmental policies.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing contract performance and risk management strategies.
  • Prepare papers, technical minutes, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Undertake detailed analysis of reports and proposals and formulate recommendations.
  • Build effective relationships and achieve negotiation outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Experience
EL1 Project Officer

  • A demonstrated history of successfully leading small teams at the intersection of data and policy.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in interpreting policy and applying practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in providing detailed technical, professional, and/or policy advice for complex problems.
  • Sound stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills for leading and facilitating discussions with key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in deploying project management tools and techniques to ensure successful outcomes.

APS6 Project Officer

  • Demonstrated ability to work at the intersection of data and policy.
  • History of exercising initiative and judgment in interpreting policy and applying practices and procedures.
  • Ability to provide detailed technical, professional, and/or policy advice for complex issues.
  • Contribution to building successful stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent administrative skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
