API Technical Lead
Our client is a federal government organisation with offices throughout Australia. Due to growth, they are seeking an API Technical Lead to join their team in their Richmond or Geelong office.
This will be a 12-month initial contract with further extensions, 7.5 hour day, with a hybrid work arrangement.
This role will play a critical part in the ongoing enhancement and delivery of an API Integration platform which will go live over the coming months. Daily tasks will include the development of APIs and the secure integration of internal and external endpoints as per project goals and industry best practices. The role
- Be a pivotal member of a talented multi-disciplinary scrum team focused on delivery of APIs as part of a new program of work, using Jira & Confluence.
- Perform technical review of support changes, ensuring best practice methodology is employed and organisational architecture patterns are adhered to.
- Lead the technical development of the API Gateway, following the principles of the Scheme Digital Platform architecture and roadmap in line with the Project schedule.
- Hands-on approach in monitoring production environment and providing enhancement with trouble shooting API and integration issues with MuleSoft.
- Define and implement version control, branching and deployment strategies for APIs.
- Develop and maintain documentation on processes and configurations for CI/CD automations using CLI tools to deploy application and policies.
- Document and maintain accurate technical specifications for features and/or system design.
- Maintain existing APIs and adhere to governance standards.
- Liaise with testing, development, and operations teams.
- Ensure integration of internal and external systems using Web services and REST APIs
- Help build the capability of the team through close collaboration and knowledge sharing with colleagues.
- Guide knowledge transfer and training within the team.
- Provide expertise & perform coding for MuleSoft API.
- Provide weekly report to the Integration Team Lead as well as the Integration & Data Director via preferred tools.

Essential criteria
1. Demonstrated experience in designing and developing API Gateway integration solutions.
2. Demonstrated experience in building and working with integration (example REST APIs, Platform Events).
3. Possess current MuleSoft Certified and has a strong knowledge of Mavan
4. Demonstrated effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset with ability to work seamlessly within cross-functional teams, articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
5. Experience with CICD implementation.
6. Experience working with Source Control tools (e.g. GitLab) & package-based development.
Desirable criteria
1. Cloudhub 2 experience
2. Integrating with CIAM
3. Experience with Atlassian Jira, VSCode and DevOps practices.
4. Comfortable with new ways of thinking about accessibility and enthusiastic about accessible design & development will be highly regarded.
