• Location: ACT / QLD (Hybrid)
• Security Clearance: Baseline Cleared (Preferred)
• Contract Length: 12 months contract + 2 × 12-month extensions (subject to Departmental discretion)

Our client is seeking an experienced AI Cloud Engineer to join a high-performing digital delivery environment. This role sits within a multidisciplinary engineering team building GenAI, Agentic AI, and modern Data Engineering solutions on AWS at enterprise scale. You will drive the design, development, and optimisation of AI workloads with a focus on performance, security, ethics, accessibility, and cost optimisation. The position is ideal for someone who is deeply technical, highly collaborative, and passionate about innovating with modern AI frameworks and cloud-native architectures.

Key responsibilities of the position:

• Design and develop GenAI and standard AI solutions using modern methodologies and cloud-native patterns.

• Apply strong Data Engineering principles across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and model pipelines.

• Develop Agentic AI systems, RAG pipelines, model distillation, and fine-tuning frameworks.

• Identify customer needs and translate business requirements into scalable, ethical AI solutions.

• Architect and build AI workloads with a focus on security, cost optimisation, governance, and performance.

• Maintain knowledge of advancements across AI, LLMs, cloud computing, and Data Engineering.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams and business stakeholders.

What we are looking for

• Strong experience delivering end-to-end AI and Data Engineering solutions.

• Strong hands-on experience with RAG, model fine-tuning, model distillation, and Agentic AI development.

• Deep experience in Prompt Engineering, LangChain, LangGraph, and modern LLM evaluation techniques.

• Advanced Python programming capability.

• Strong understanding of ML concepts, responsible/ethical AI controls, and cloud security.

• AWS cloud engineering experience, including platform AI/ML services (e.g., AWS Bedrock, AWS Comprehend, Kubeflow).

• Experience designing APIs, backend services, unit tests, automation, and DevOps pipelines for AI workloads.

• Proficiency with Kubernetes, containerisation, CI/CD, and automated testing.

• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases.

• Experience delivering AI solutions with a secure, scalable, resilient cloud architecture approach.

Desirable skills & experience:

• Data pipelines for ingestion, curation, transformation, container creation, ETL/ELT, and orchestration workflows.

• Understanding of MLOps, Data Engineering fundamentals, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity principles.

• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and a demonstrated ability to uplift and mentor team members.

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, Engineering, or related fields.
