Talent is pleased to announce the appointment of internationally renowned philanthropist and innovator Jane Tewson to the board as a Non Executive Director.
Talent founder and Managing Director Richard Earl commented “In July we approached Jane Tewson to join the Talent board as a Non Executive Director. I’m delighted to say she has accepted the role!”
Having founded five charitable organisations over the past 30 years, including Comic Relief (Red Nose Day) in the UK, Jane has a global reputation for innovating and being at the forefront of inspiring individuals and organisations to work together for positive social change. Jane currently sits on the Boards of The Reichstein Foundation, Virgin Unite International and Virgin Unite Australia. Former Board positions include St James Ethics Centre, Oxfam and the Media Trust.
Jane’s appointment to the Talent board is primarily aimed at providing the Talent leadership team with proven expertise for developing Talent’s foundation – Talent RISE. Talent RISE was established to mobilise the skills and expertise of the technology community to tackle the issue of Australian youth unemployment. Talent RISE aims to provide opportunities for 10,000 disadvantaged youth to find employment within the tech sector.
Jane will work with the Talent board to ensure Talent’s strategic direction meets and maintains the ethical requirements of a “good corporate citizen” and she will also provide a sounding board for the executive directors on general strategic and stakeholder issues.
Recently a judge and panellist for the 2015 Talent Unleashed Awards, held in Sydney, Jane helped Talent to recognise disruptive entrepreneurs who utilise innovative technology solutions that improve communities, social problems and the environment. At the awards, Jane spoke about her Melbourne based foundation Igniting Change – that is sparking big positive change for people doing it tough in our communities, as well as the annual Igniting Change/Virgin Unite workshop at Richard Branson’s Necker Island, which attracts some of the world’s greatest thinkers and business minds.
Talent warmly welcome’s Jane to the board and looks forward to working closely with her to further enhance the initiatives of Talent RISE and the wider business.
