Having recently undergone its first leg of European expansion in Amsterdam at the back end of last year, Global IT Recruitment company, Talent International (Talent), is embarking on the next leg of its expansion into mainland Europe with the launch of a new office in Berlin, following its huge success in the capital city’s booming tech scene over the past 12 months.

Globally, Talent have already established successful offices in some of the worlds booming tech startup cities including London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Sydney and San Francisco. The new office in Berlin will be headed by Stuart Day, Director of Talent Germany, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of the Berlin startup scene to the table.

Commenting on the move, he said “It’s an easy decision to invest in something that is delivering results, Talent’s Germany team have proved their figures and their ability to work remotely in a fast-paced market. It was certainly time to make that step and build a real clear business in Berlin, embed ourselves in our client’s world and start to become not only a trusted partner, but a fully recognised brand in Germany”.

After 5 years of planning, 2 of those within Talent, and a year of trying to find the right person to continue the vision, Stuart and his team are now truly embedded in the start-up capital of Europe, and in fact, bang in the middle of it with an office in the co-working Mindspace in Mitte.

Commenting on the move Talent EMEA, CEO, Jonathan Butterfield, said “We don’t want to just open a UK recruitment business in Berlin, we want to continue to build a European offering that is synonymous with Digital, Tech and Start-ups continuing the truly remarkable work that the team have already done”.

In the past 5 years, there has been an explosion of inward investment in the capital, and more recently a real increase in investment from predominantly local investors. Long gone are the times of needing to seek investment from the UK or US: domestic startup accelerators and investors have not only put Berlin on the map in the last 5 years, but helped bring about its reputation of ‘start-up capital of Europe’.

Executive Chairman Richard Earl added that Berlin and Germany represented a vital part of Talent’s vision to create a truly global tech and digital specialist. In addition Talent is committed to the world’s start-up sector through highly successful programs like the Talent Unleashed Awards making Berlin the perfect place to be.
