All businesses need to grow, and a tech company in particular should be a hub of innovation and change. One way to achieve this is through recruitment – if you can hire the right talent that have the ability and mindset to take you where you need to be, you’re already halfway there. Here’s how you can find and attract people who will drive growth and change in your company.
1) Find out whether they’ve done it before
When you’re looking through CVs, see whether your potential candidates have mentioned any past projects in their previous roles that have helped to drive their business forward. Or, have a look at their past employers, to find out whether they achieved growth during the time your candidate worked there.
If you’re wanting to innovate, it might be a good idea to add a section to your job advert, requesting that applicants include a paragraph in their cover letter on what they would change about your company and how they would do it.
2) Have a growth mindset
It’s all very well looking for growth-minded talent, but do you yourself have the right mindset? You might think you want to grow, but if you have a culture that will strike down those that have new ideas or ways of doing things, your team won’t stick around for very long. This should also be the case even if an employees’ new project doesn’t quite work out. Make sure you encourage discussion and get everyone to put their own views forward.
3) Adopt a people-first brand
Talking to candidates like they’re human, instead of simply writing a formal list of requirements for the job, will be more likely to entice the right people. Don’t just rely on a job advert either. Post on social media about upcoming positions, and encourage people to send through their CVs even if you don’t have an obvious role yet. Be sure to post about your current team on social media too – potential recruits will be interested to see what your organisation is getting up to and whether there’s a bit of a buzz around the office.
